Tara Wallace is an artist from Zimbabwe, where colour, rhythm, and nature are woven into everyday life. For more than eight years, she has worked with paint, developing a practice that has shaped the way she observes and interprets the world around her.

More recently, Tara has expanded her creative practice into illustration and surface pattern design. Largely self-taught, this evolution grew from a fascination with the patterns and textures found in everyday surroundings—from natural forms and woven materials to the interplay of light and shadow.

Living in Africa has had a profound influence on her work. She is drawn to the colour, movement, and energy found in ordinary moments, often amplifying these qualities through playful compositions and vibrant palettes. Rather than documenting the world exactly as it appears, Tara reimagines it through a lens of curiosity and wonder, creating work that captures a sense of magic, optimism, and possibility.

Her work explores the connections between environment, memory, and the spaces we inhabit. Through both painting and surface pattern design, Tara creates pieces that bring warmth, character, and joy to the places and objects people interact with every day.
